93 Ways to Mentor will provide services for adolescents in need of mentoring or wrap around services. This includes, but is not limited to:
93 Ways To Mentor will develop a team approach plan to provide support within the home or school environment for each child.
We accomplish our goals by connecting mentors with specific skill sets and experience with our youth to encourage and guide them in a constructive manner. Our mentors are passionate about our youth and have a mutual respect for all those involved.
For the last 12 years I have worked in urban and hospitalization programs with at-risk youth, ages 5 to 18 years. I also
have over 10 years of coaching experience ranging from little league to high school football. Many of the children have
challenging concerns in regard to mental, physical, emotional and behavioral health needs. Over time I have developed
and used several individualized plans to support client needs. I build strong relationships with youth and that is the
number one priority for our youth. I believe children don't learn from people they don't like or respect, therefore
prior to promoting change, I engage in relationship-building activities and strong bonding moments. The ability to build
strong relationships builds the bond and the trust between educator and student. Many children struggle to trust peers
and adults, but with strong relationships the transition is easier.
My passion isn't always to change a student but to
improve upon the good qualities they already have and reduce the use of negative qualities. I build the foundation on
positive action equals positive rewards, while continuing to search for the “why” in the behavior. When able to discover
the “why” we can develop proactive ideas instead of reacting to negative actions. I believe every child is capable of
being a productive individual in society and therefore approach them as such. I love the process of development and
change. The idea of working with our youth to help them reach and develop goals is one of the leading factors in my
daily fulfillment.
